Bass Anglers Sportfishing  Society”

In March 1973 a group of English Sea bass anglers came together and founded the “Bass Anglers Sportfishing Society”.  The majority of its members come from all parts of the British islands, but specialists from the European continent are becoming increasingly interested.

Whats the reason for B.A.S.S. (and other clubs)?

We believe that together we have an opportunity to encourage the conservation, research and protection of European sea bass, Dicentrarchus labrax.

Not just one of the oldest European sea bass clubs in Europe, but one of the most active. Working closely together with several marine institutes, the Bass Anglers Sortfishing Society has been especially dedicated to conservation, education and research. The bass club has not only received political attention on the island, but has also challenged the EU-level to rethink their stances.

But they also havent forgotten our hobby of fishing European sea bass. Their forum and quarterly paper is full of all one needs to know about our Dicentrarchus labrax.
